Christ Church celebrated Easter for the second time this last Sunday and there were many more parishioners this year than last. Easter at Christ Church is a super-joyful service (the most joyful and loud of the year) and comes with great contrast to the service of the Cross on Good Friday.
It was a day of celebration with joyful singing, colorful appointments, white paraments and The Eucharist with an effervescent wine (the cork is popped from the bottle during the Supper). He is Risen indeed!
We just finished our Good Friday Tenebrae (darkeness/shadows) service. The service was solemn, stark and ended with the sanctuary in darkness. The light and joy of the celebration of the empty tomb awaits.
